Stop Nerve Dysfunction Pain
IMS can loosely be described as a highly advanced form of acupuncture, but in reality it is much more complex. IMS involves using acupuncture needles to specifically target injured muscles, which have contracted and become shortened from distress IMS treats pain of neuropathic origin – pain stemming from nerve dysfunction with no obvious physical injury. The technique is very effective at desensitizing nerves that have become irritated and supersensitive. IMS does not treat nociceptive “pain” caused by an ongoing harmful or hurting process, such as injury from a fracture; or from inflammation. Instead, IMS treats painful conditions which generally show no signs of tissue damage, such as headache, back pain, tennis elbow or frozen shoulder.
